DOLE says some 200 K employees have earned cash help


The Labor and Employment Department (DOLE) reported that nearly 200,000 employees have obtained cash assistance from government support programs

DOLE's report shows that around PHP 622 million of aid funds were spent on beneficiaries of the COVID-19 Improvement Measures Program (CAMP) and Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged / Displaced Workers Program (TUPAD)-Barangay ko, Bahay Ko (BKBK) programme.

As of April 4, 2020, approximately 102,895 formal sector employees received PHP 5,000 cash aid under the Center, while almost 80,000 informal employees benefited from the program of TUPAD BKBK.

DOLE is planning to help over 350,000 formal and informal sector workers by mid-month, spending over PHP 1.5 billion in CAMP and TUPAD assistance funds.

The Labor Department added that a further PHP 5 billion would be needed for the rest of the month to fund the COVID 19 crises ' more employees.
